StatusHub Integration

PRTG & StatusHub: Automate Status Page Incidents from Network Monitoring Alerts

PRTG keeps a close eye on every device and service across your network. StatusHub makes sure your team and end users know about it the moment something goes wrong. Connect the two and turn PRTG sensor status changes into automatic status page updates.

About

PRTG, developed by Paessler, is a network monitoring platform used by IT teams worldwide to track the availability and performance of their infrastructure.

StatusHub and PRTG integration overview

StatusHub is an IT disruption communication tool and status page software that helps organisations publish real-time updates and manage incident communication with their team and end users. PRTG is a network monitoring platform that detects service issues across your infrastructure the moment they occur.

Once you connect your PRTG account to StatusHub via webhook, the two systems work in sync. When a service status changes in PRTG, a notification is sent to StatusHub, which automatically creates and publishes an incident on your status page. When the service recovers and returns to Up, StatusHub resolves the incident automatically, without any manual intervention.

Through the HTTP action payload you configure in PRTG, you can define the incident title, control whether it is published immediately or held as a draft for your team to review, and choose whether subscriber notifications are triggered or suppressed. This makes it easy to tailor the integration to your internal processes, regardless of how your team handles incident communication.

Technical overview of PRTG integration with StatusHub

Integration utilizes the HTTP Action in PRTG.

For each service in StatusHub, a separate HTTP Action in PRTG should be created.

In order for StatusHub to receive every event, the notification template in PRTG should be configured not to use summarization and to send events immediately.

When creating Notification Triggers in PRTG, it is important to set the trigger to fire when the sensor is no longer down. Otherwise, PRTG will not send the request to StatusHub after sensor recovery, which will result in an unresolved incident in StatusHub.

Besides the variables provided by PRTG, StatusHub also supports StatusHub-specific values sent in an HTTP request:

  • shtitle to customize the incident title in StatusHub,

  • sheventid to allow simultaneous incidents for the same service in StatusHub,

  • shdraft to control if incidents created from PRTG should be created as drafts,

  • shsilent to create silent incidents which do not trigger notification to subscribers.
